Lockheed C-5 Galaxy. Certainly one of the biggest aircraft to fly in the US inventory, it is still slightly smaller than several Antanov designs used by the Russians. Developed as a heavy lift to move the Army to war, it serves many purposes now including heavy lift for humanitarian reasons; Antarctic supply flights; and even space satellite transport. All current C-5's were re-winged in a contenscious upgrade program in the early 80's, shortly after the aircraft came into service.
C-5B, probably from Dover AFB, at the S-J AFB open day '90.
