September 30th, 2004![]() The day I visited the museum it was still the USAF Museum, however they were doing rehersals for some big presentation, it seems that presentation was the official renaming ceremony that took place in early October 2004, so now the place is called the National Museum Of the United States Air Force. You have been told! The museum is organized into a main facility that houses the vast bulk of the aircraft, an outdoor taxiway with a number of large aircraft and a couple of hangars about a mile away holding presidential and research aircraft. The museum has in the last year opened two new hangars. One holds the Cold War collection, the other a Rocket and Missile collection.
