This was the fith edition of the Portsmouth Polytechnic Motorcycle Club magazine. Produced in late 1983 as a club sponsored publication to make life more interesting for the student membership. This is the Fresher's Edition, created to help new students find their feet in the Portsmouth area, with respect to their motorcycling based 'lifestyle'. This edition was edited by Martin and Adam OH with, it would seem, significant help from Jane and Steve. The Crash and Pray story, I originally penned, having quite a bit of experience in this field, from the pointy end. Some of my artistic tripe still turns up, even in this issue. They skimped a bit on the production on this issue, the page numbering is nothing if not inventive. But, as had been the case till now the material was laid out fairly well, and there was lots of it, even if the THOK cartoon seems to have been ripped off from another magazine. Hopefully copyright has expired on it! At least I can't find references to the cartoon on the web. The Motorcycle Dealer section returns in this issue, though this time it is only just a little shorter than the Pub guide. This was just before the bottom fell out of the Motorcycle industry, and sales fell off a cliff. In up-coming issues, the dealer section shortens significantly. Martin found this issue and I scanned it, using an Epson Perfection 1250 scanner, which I then edited in Adobe Photoshop CS3 (snobbery, I know.) I cropped, rotated, changed image contrast, and scaled the images down to approximately 600 * 900 pixels. I have also retouched most of the pages removing scanning blemishes. << Get to the start of the page! |
